North Shore University Hospital

Nationally ranked in neurological care, it houses an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Level 4 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, a Chiari Institute, a Movement Disorders Institute, a Brain Tumor Institute, a Brain Aneurysm Center, a Headache Center, and a Spine Center.  The campus is also home to the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, which provides oversight to the neurology department for over 30 active clinical trials. Outpatient resident clinic takes place at the North Shore campus.

Long Island Jewish Medical Center

Located on the border of Long Island and Queens, Long Island Jewish Medical Center is a nationally ranked 1015-bed tertiary care center that is recognized regionally for outstanding patient care and research. LIJMC has three components: Long Island Jewish Hospital, Zucker Hillside Mental Health Hospital, and Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center, a leading pediatric hospital at which neurology residents complete their pediatric neurology rotations.

Northwell Neuroscience Institute at 611 Northern Blvd.

Located a few minutes’ drive away from North Shore University Hospital, The Neuroscience Institute houses the outpatient faculty practice serving both North Shore and LIJ. Ambulatory procedures such as EMG, EEG, sleep studies, and carotid dopplers/TCDs are performed at this facility. The Institute also houses a neurology outpatient infusion center. Neurology residents will spend time at this location when doing outpatient electives, where they will work with a myriad of subspecialists, to include neurovascular/stroke, epilepsy, neuroimmunology/MS, movement disorders, neuromuscular, neuro-oncology, headache, and sleep specialists.

The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research

Located on the North Shore campus, the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research comprise the research arm of Northwell Health. Feinstein is home to 50 research labs, 2,500 clinical research studies, and 5,000 professional and support staff. Feinstein scientists conduct research in molecular medicine, genetics, cancer, brain research, mental health, autoimmunity and bioelectronic medicine, among others. Feinstein is home to the Center for Neurosciences, which conducts state-of-the-art brain-imaging research to improve the care of people with neurodegenerative conditions. Many of our faculty members participate in research at the Feinstein, and residents have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers on basic, translational, or clinical projects.
